Leora is an adept family lawyer with specialist experience in high conflict matters, particularly complex financial remedy cases involving multiple jurisdictions and joined parties. She is recognised as a key lawyer in financial remedy work in the Legal 500.
Leora joined Burgess Mee in November 2020. She previously worked at Vardags where she completed her training contract and qualified as a solicitor in January 2019. Leora advises on the full spectrum of family law issues, including divorce, financial remedies, Schedule 1, TOLATA, pre and postnuptial agreements and disputes relating to children (such as contact, schooling, leave to remove). She has extensive experience and a particular interest in high net worth and UHNW matrimonial cases with complex or unusual assets, such as international business assets and/or trust assets. She is an astute litigator and has specialist knowledge and experience of dealing with cases involving non-disclosure, disclosure from third parties, joinder and intervenors.
At the same time, Leora is committed to helping her clients reach an amicable settlement outside of court and many of her cases utilise NCDR (non-court dispute resolution) and do not see the courtroom.
She is trained to identify and understand the impact of trauma and is committed to supporting her clients in a sensitive, empathetic and trauma informed manner.
Leora is an active member of Resolution; the largest organisation of family lawyers that encourages a constructive approach to resolving family issues. She is co-chair of the Resolution Drafting Committee, which focuses on ensuring the precedents for financial remedy orders and agreements are up to date in accordance with the latest case law and promotes best practice.
Leora is committed to supporting the wider community and has organised Burgess Mee's involvement and fundraising initiative in the annual London Legal Walk and Great Legal Bake, which raise money for charity to improve access to justice. She writes for legal publications regularly and has had articles published in the Financial Remedies Journal website, the TL4 HNW Divorce Magazine, Solicitor’s Journal, Resolution’s The Review as well as Burgess Mee’s website.
Leora read English at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Shewas awarded an Astbury Scholarship and Harmsworth Entrance Exhibition from The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple to study the Graduate Diploma in Law which she undertook at City University London. Leora then completed the LPC at BPP Law School and obtained her Higher Rights (Civil) with the University of Law.
When not working, Leora is most likely to be pursuing her passion for dance or yoga. She is classically trained in Ballet, Modern and Tap dance and regularly attends classes across London. Her other interests include food, Scrabble and beautiful shoes.
